MacPPP (ConfigPPP) Setup
This guide is suitable for Mac O/S 7.1 and above. The PPP control panel is
system specific, and some versions of PPP will not work on some operating
systems.
As a result, this setup guide is provided for your information only, and
there is no guarantee it is fit for all configurations.
Setting up MacPPP
MacPPP has two files associated with it. These are ConfigPPP and PPP. PPP
belongs in your extension folder, ConfigPPP belongs in the Control Panels
folder. If these two files are not in their correct place, place them
there and reset your computer. This means switching the computer off and
then on again.
Edit the ConfigPPP dialogue box to look the same as the one above. If
necessary, change the port name. This is the serial port your computer
uses to access the modem. When you are sure that all these settings here
are correct, click on the New button, enter in GeiNet for the PPP server name and then click the Config button.
Edit your dialogue box to look the same as the one above, or as necessary
for your system. The port speed of your modem if you have a 28.8 or 33.6k
is 38400, and if you have a 56.6k modem it will be 57600. You will need to
enter in the correct phone number for your nearest GeiNet POP. The link is listed below:
http://www.geinet.net/numbers.htm
Once finished putting these in, click on the Connect script to
continue setting up your connection.
Edit your dialogue box to look exactly the same as the one above.
Once this has been done, click OK.

Now, click on Authentication and the above dialogue box should
appear. The entries username and password should be replaced
by the username and password you supplied GeiNet Internet Services
upon subscription. Both of these should be entered in lowercase
characters, e.g. username and NOT UserName.
You can now click OK, click on Done and close the ConfigPPP
window.
Now you need to configure your MacTCP settings.
